2026 IRMAA: Medicare Part B & Part D Premiums

Understand how your income affects your Medicare premiums—and what you can do about it.

What is IRMAA?

IRMAA (Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount) is an additional charge added to your Medicare Part B and Part D premiums if your income exceeds certain thresholds. These adjustments are based on your income from two years prior.

How to Reduce IRMAA

  • Review retirement income strategies (Roth conversions, withdrawal timing)
  • File an appeal if you’ve had a life-changing event
  • Coordinate Medicare planning with tax planning
